Mary's Sugar Babies Welcomes Baby Silja   Silja was Reborned April 22, 2007 Weight 5lbs 2ozs Length 21" Baby Silja has been Reborned from a Linde Scherer blank kit. Silja started out as a completely blank canvas. After several weeks of work, Silja has been transformed from a completely blank canvas into the adorable little baby girl you see in the photos.    Coloring Process   Baby Silja's coloring was painstaking achieved by using Genesis heat set paints.    She was carefully colored and blushed.  Even though this is one of the most time consuming part of the reborn process (4-5 days), it is also the most rewarding process because this is when the blank canvas becomes a baby. It is impossible to describe each and every step in the painting process, the basic steps were: 1) to use many thin translucent layers of paint to achieve a basic skin tone.  2) Blushing all of the rolls and wrinkles for depth. 3) A few more layers of translucent paint to blend in harsh blushed areas. 4) And finally, lip and mouth paint. Silja’s lips were painted two separate shades. After the last layer of paint had cured, Silja’s lips, mouth and nostrils were slightly glossed to give them a more realistic wet appearance. Since Genesis heat set paints are permanent, Silja will never lose her sweet baby look.    Silja has full Berenguer arms and legs. Her little fingers and toes have a fresh new manicure.  Her nose has been opened so she can breathe. Hair and Eyelashes Baby Silja's beautiful dark brown hair was meticulously hand rooted.   The hair-rooting process took hours and hours to complete and there are only 1 or 2 hairs in each follicle. Silja’s head of soft dark brown baby fine hair is high quality. A beautiful mohair that has been micro rooted with the finest gauge felting needle. After rooting her hair it was lightly trimmed.  I try to obtain the best mohair available, which is properly sterilized, washed, dyed, and conditioned.  Silja’s hair has been glued and sealed on the inside with waterproof glue so that her new mom can brush and even wash it gently on occasion and can be dampened for restyling.   The photo below shows how her hair looks when wet. Silja has human hair upper and bottom eyelashes. Her eyes are a beautiful chocolate brown. Her barely there eyebrows were hand painted with Genesis heat set paints.    Clothes and Body   Silja's body is made of doesuede and I have used new tiny glass pellets sealed in a cloth sack as well as new premium poly-fil which doesn't bunch up.  Her arms and legs were filled with glass pellets and poly-fil and then sealed.   Silja will arrive with the 2 outfits you see here.  The lavendar Precious Moments outfit is 3 pieces and her gorgeous pink Petit Ami dress has a matching bonnet and undies.   Coming Home   Baby Silja will arrive home in her cute pink Petit Ami Dress.  This lovely dress has a smocked bodice with embroidered flowers in the smocking.  She will also arrive with:  Petit Ami Bonnet and matching panties White patent Mary Janes and ruffled socks 3 piece lavendar"Precious Moments" outfit wearing a fresh new diaper Magnetic pacifier and  hair ornament White satin headband Reborn Birth Certificate I.D. bracelet Care instruction sheet Silja's Petit Ami dress is a Newborn size, but she can also wear 0-3 months baby clothes so you will be able to shop for her.  Thank you for visiting Silja's page.
